February 3, 2009: KnuckleBonz is honored to announce on this memorable day in rock-n-roll history that the company is nearing completion on its newest collectible statue in the Rock Iconz® statue series: Buddy Holly.
KnuckleBonz honors rock’s most influential artists through the music-based sculpture series: Rock Iconz. The Buddy Holly Rock Iconz statue features this rock-n-roll legend in a prototypical stance playing guitar on top a “That’ll Be the Day” gold record base. The figure is a limited edition of only 3000 worldwide and each is individually hand-painted. Each statue is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
“The Day the Music Died” refers to a plane crash on February 3, 1959. The crash killed three rock-n-roll legends: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson.
Buddy was one of music’s first “triple threats as a singer, songwriter and musician. His interests and ambitions across the music business stood alone at the beginning of rock music. It’s hard to believe he made that great of an impact in only 2 short years,” says Tony Simerman, President and Creative Director of KnuckleBonz, Inc.
The figure is been licensed with the Buddy Holly estate. KnuckleBonz has worked with Maria Elena Holly, the wife of the late rock-n-roll legend, for full approval on the figure.
